IST-Africa 2007 is the 2nd in an annual conference series, bringing together representatives from leading commercial, government and research organisations across Africa and Europe, to bridge the Digital Divide by sharing knowledge, experiences, lessons learnt and good practice. Cell-Life wrote a research paper which focused on the experiences gained while implementing our open-source ARV pharmacy application (iDART) in public health clinics around South Africa. We are passionate about knowledge sharing and this type of research paper is a reflection of that, with the main contribution being key lessons learnt. In May 2007, Sarah Brown presented this paper in Maputo, Mozambique, and also set up a demonstration stand show-casing the iDART software. There was a tremendous amount of interest in this application as well as Cell-Life activities in general. It was a great opportunity to see other ICT applications and solutions being implemented in many southern African countries. Over 70 iDART demo CDs were distributed and we will keep you informed of any developments arising from this great, networking conference.
Cell-Life would like to thank all staff affiliated
with the four health care facilities and all the iDART users for both allowing
us to discuss our experiences, as well as their enormous contributions to the
findings presented in the paper. The paper is available for download from our
website (link).
