| Cell-Life's first OpenMRS installation |

"OpenMRS is an application which enables design of a customized medical records system... It is a common framework upon which medical informatics efforts in developing countries can be built."1 Shortly after the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation (DTHF) approached Cell-Life with a need for a medical records system, Cell-Life attended the OpenMRS user group meeting in Cape Town. Having seen its capabilities and the open source community that are involved with the software Cell-Life decided to use OpenMRS as the system for DTHF. Since making that decision Cell-Life has been working hard to get to know OpenMRS and to customise it to suit DTHF's needs. We are proud to announce that within the next month DTHF will begin using the system. OpenMRS has shown to be a flexible software that can be adapted easily to the requirements of clients. We are hoping that more organisations will take a closer look at this software, since it offers a high quality patient management solution at a low cost. Our thanks go out to the OpenMRS team for producing a top quality system and to DTHF for partnering with us and providing facilities for our first OpenMRS implementation. 1 www.openmrs.org
