AED Cellphone Reporting System Update |
|
Friday, 01 December 2006 |
Cell-Life's cellphone reporting tool
which was developed in conjunction with the Academy for Educational
Development (AED) has been in operation for almost a year and has been
gaining momentum in its operations.
The
project, initially proposed by AED, uses cellphones as a means of data
capture in which representatives from up to 10000 schools feedback
information to a central Cell-Life database on the number of HIV peer
education sessions that take place. The information captured by the
representatives is sent via a simple SMS to Cell-Life from which the
easy consolidation of all the information is carried out. The initial
proposal for the project was based on the usage of telephone, fax and
email as the means for communication but these mediums were seen to be
potentially resource intensive. The cellphones were chosen as a
solution due to them being seen as a cheap, easy alternative to
managing the challenge.
Cell-Life
is currently in the process of adding new features to the system which
provides the current set of reports with additional information and
functionality. For further information on this and other product please
