Tove Sorensen, from the WHO Collaborating
Centre for Telemedicine in Norway, has been working at the Cell-Life
offices since early October. She is in South Africa conducting research
into the status quo of the current eHealth tools available for
ART-management.
The research also includes findings on the needs for
ICT-based services in ART-management in public and private healthcare.
Combined, this research forms a pre-study as part of a joint project of
developing an 'eHealth Toolkit', that is a Sustainable Primary Health
Technology for HIV/AIDS.
The
pre-study will conduct a qualitative assessment of the identified
systems and approaches. The assessment aims to determine the health
service standard, patient through-put and technology readiness of the
tools. The assessment will be conducted via interviews and observations
at a minimum of three ART-clinics in the Western Cape, covering the
main environments of rural, semi-rural and urban.
Cell-Life is pleased to be part of this project, and will continue reporting on its progress.
